Soon

I've been getting the same question a lot- "When is American Storm going to be available?" Soon! If all goes according to plan, it should be available on Amazon on February 1. It's a little behind schedule, but after four years, what's another couple of days?

What am I most excited about in Storm? During the course of writing AR56 and American Storm, I became a better writer. In the biz they call it "finding your voice." Since I'd never done anything like this before, it's not hard to imagine that I got better as I gained experience. One of my brothers was the first to notice (he was one of my first readers and champions) that I got significantly better a few chapters into AR56. So I am very pleased that I'm still able to learn and apply that knowledge.

What terrifies me about Storm? It's January 2021 and if you follow the news at all, it's been a tumultuous couple of months, now weeks and days. I started writing in 2017 and am terrified about how today's events are mirroring my thoughts of then. If only I could take this skill to the sportsbook!

What excited me about my writing in general right now? I've met and spoken with a few authors (William Kent Krueger, Allen Eskens, Mindy Mejia, Susanna Calkins) and they all had the same advice- keep writing! I took their advice and have several other books in the works. Or at least on the brain. During the pandemic shutdown of 2020, I drafted a shorter, vastly different (than the AR series) book about lost loves. Then one of my other brothers pitched an idea to me that could turn into a long, long series. What's exciting is that once I wrote the first one, and got past my fear, none of it seems out of reach.

What terrifies me about my writing in general right now? I am working on book three- American Dawn and frankly, I haven't done much writing in quite some time. Musicians and athletes talk about "losing their chops" if they don't play/practice for a few days, and boy, do I understand that now. Thank goodness for computers and the drafting process! I can suck now and fix it later! It will take some time to make Dawn a reality, but I'm confident and optimistic about it.

Last but not least, thanks again to the impossibly talented Trish Gieseke for her cover art! That's how close we are.
