Where the Crawdads Sing (A Review)

 Holy cats! Last night I finished reading Delia Owens' book, "Where the Crawdads Sing." It's fabulous. You should read it. 

As you probably know, I'm a huge book nerd. I couldn't begin to name all the books I've read in my lifetime, but it's probably in the thousands. I can say that Where the Crawdads Sing" has vaulted to the top of my all-time favorites list. Not only is it a great story, but now with my writer's eyes, I'm in love. 

"It ain't that." She spoke almost in a whisper. "I wadn't aware that words could hold so much. I didn't know a sentence could be that full."

He smiled. "That's a very good sentence. Not all words hold that much."

It's a love story wrapped in a murder mystery hidden inside a story of fighting prejudice and complex family dynamics. Trust me, that's hard to do, but...

What do I want for Christmas? To be able to write like Delia Owens.
