So Close!

I am so close to getting American Revolution 2056 available to the public I can hardly stand it! Seriously, the book is done...for the 43rd time. The cover is done. I even have a new photo. I am waiting on the assignment of an ISBN (International Standard Book Number) and the press of a few buttons and that's it. As Tom Petty sang, "The waiting is the hardest part."

In the meantime, I've been hard at work on the second book, American Storm, and a little at work on the third book, American Dawn. I suspect that the final parts of getting those two available will be much smoother simply because I've done it already.

The most challenging thing now is of my own doing. When I started, I didn't know anything about the business end of writing. So I was told by several agents that my first effort was much too long. So I split it into two books. Then an epiphany occurred and I went back to one of my very first thoughts, which was to write a trilogy. I confess, I originally put that on hold for the simple fact that I'd never written one book so attempting three seemed absurd.

But, split and design a third book I did. Which brings me back to the challenging part- continuity! Over several years and some major changes, keeping facts and ideas straight is devilishly hard. If someone's eyes are baby blue in book one, chapter three, they can't be hazel in book three chapter five. And when you decide to kill off a character early in book two, they really can't have dialogue at the end of that book. It's my own fault, but it's still annoying.

I will trumpet my release from the heavens soon enough. In the meantime, here is my cover (thank you to Trish Gieseke) and new picture after an outcry from my team (thank you to Ava Hahn).
