American Storm

One of the best bits of writing wisdom I've received came from MN author William Kent Krueger. Kent is not only a great writer, but an exceedingly kind and smart man. Wow. Anyway, he said that when you (as a new writer) pursue publication, their first question is going to be "what else do you have?" So, he suggested, keep writing!

With his words in mind and a pandemic in the air, I've made significant progress. Book Two of my series, "American Storm" is now with some of my special friends for readability and general input. It picks up where "American Revolution 2056" leaves off and takes the adventure spinning into a bigger arena. With any luck at all, both will be available as e-books later this fall.

I can't call it "done." I'm not sure, but I don't believe anything is "done" until it's in print. It's a blessing and a curse, trust me. But for the time being, I can focus my efforts on on publishing, marketing, legal stuff and Book Three

The first time I his "save" on AR56 and thought I was done, I cried at what I'd accomplished. Even then I knew it wasn't finished, but it was something. I was correct, though and continued to revise and polish and all that good stuff to the point where (barring a miracle) AR56 is done. American Storm is well on its way. It's exciting! For better or worse, I didn't cry this time.

What's next? I have Book Three, "American Dawn," plotted out and even have the very, very ending written. One of the other great bits of wisdom I received was from author James V. Smith, Jr. (his book was my introduction to fiction writing), who encourages authors to write the ending first and then make a road map to the desired ending. That worked really well for the trilogy. So, I have the very last chapter written and an outline. And a gazillion thoughts swirling in my head. Frankly, after months of editing and working on publishing stuff, getting back to writing will be a treat.
